I don’t think this is something I’ve ever waxed on here on my blog, but never watch a movie that you’ve never seen before for the first time on TV. There’s a couple reasons why: 1) commercials ruin the flow of the film, 2) oftentimes they’ll edit out scenes or cut it differently to make the film run at a more acceptable runtime, and 3) editing of swears/ sexual content/ violence. I just don’t think it’s the proper way to view a movie for the first time. Unless they’re showing the whole movie uncut (although that still has commercials) or you have a premium cable channel, which is obviously a lot different.

Some of the best work I’ve seen from Community. What a freakin’ Christmas special!

Just noticed that Glee seasons one and two are on Netflix watch instantly and I’m debating whether I should watch it. For a little background on my history with the show, I watched the first 13 episodes of season one and greatly enjoyed it. That was up to the first break between the Fall and Spring TV seasons. I watched the first episode of the second half of season 1 and thought “eh… do I really want to watch this anymore?” and kind of gave up on it and moved on to other shows. That one episode I watched seemed like they were just going to recycle plot lines rather than do anything new or inventive the way I felt the first 13 episodes were. I’ve found that the reception of the second half of season one and season two as a whole has been a mixed bag. Some people say they love the show and I’ve seen others who say that it takes a huge dip in quality after the first half of season one. I’m compelled to give the show another chance though just to see if I’d like it, but this is one of those scenarios where watching a show would be a huge time investment that I don’t know would pay off in the long run.

Apparently when Abed said that he had delivered a baby before in season two, episode 22, “Applied Anthropology and Culinary Arts” HE WASN’T KIDDING. I was listening to the /Filmcast talk about the show and they mentioned this background plotline and I looked it up on Youtube… MIND = FUCKING BLOWN! Just watch what takes place in the background of this video, amazing…

Rose Byrne! One of my favorite working actresses in Hollywood. First noticed her in Danny Boyle’s amazing 2007 film, Sunshine. 2007 was sort of her coming out party with Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later, and Damages. Kind of disappointing that since then, she hasn’t been in that much, although I suppose Damages keeps her pretty busy. Adam in 2009 was pretty good and she was really funny in Get Him to the Greek last year. At least this year she’s really coming back in a big way. She was already in Insidious and Bridesmaids (the former was pretty great, about to go see the latter in theaters), and she’s going to be in X-Men First Class directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Stardust, Layer Cake) very soon. It seems like she likes to have huge years where she’s in a ton of stuff and then takes it easy in between haha.
