Heartbreaking game tonight. As much as I want to - and WILL - blame Kyle Williams, the 49ers should have taken care of business at home and the Giants put up a hell of a fight. My interest in the NFL (and sports in general) has waned in the past few years, but I can’t say that this doesn’t hurt.
For the people who say don’t blame Kyle Williams… mannnnnn, that’s like saying “don’t blame Chris Webber for the Michigan/North Carolina timeout fiasco! If Juwan Howard or Jalen Rose didn’t miss a couple free throws in the first half, they would’ve won!” NO. Kyle Williams maybe doesn’t deserve ALL of the blame, this is a team sport after all, but he choked in the spotlight and the dude should be called out for it.
Despite how disappointing an ending this is to our season, 49ers fans should be happy that we had such a fantastic season and things are only looking up from here. Very excited to see what happens in the 2012 NFL season!
@dividethesheep and I knew this was coming =(
I kind of wish the Packers won last week so I wouldn’t have to work tomorrow because I have so much reading I need to do! True, I could just call off work and stay home and read, but you must be out of your damn mind if you think I’m going to miss the 49ers play for the NFC Championship at home, OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND!
As far as who I think will win? I honestly don’t know… Eli Manning has been on FIRE this year (I would know, he was on my fantasy team haha) and he’s really proved that he’s an elite quarterback. Our defense has been excellent with the takeaways this year so Eli vs. our secondary should be a good match up to watch all game long. Although last week we had 5 takeaways and still had to win in the last minute, usually that amount of takeaways would lead to a blowout. Then again we were playing Drew Brees and the prolific Saints offense, but the Giants are no slouch either. Hopefully the 49ers can ride the momentum of last week’s win all the way to the Super Bowl, but we’ve got our work cut out for us that’s for sure.
So I’m watching the CBS post game coverage of the Ravens/Texans game when they all of a sudden start up a shameless Subway promotion IN STUDIO with Jared showing off two brand new Subway sandwiches. Then you’ve got Ndamukong Suh going on a minute long rant talking about how much loves Subway, the honey oat bread, and adding lots of toppings to his Subway sandwiches. A couple other broadcasters chip in on what they like on their Subway sandwiches and this goes on for a good 3 minutes or so, all the while I’m just sitting there thinking “WTF is going on!!??” LOL.
I have never seen any game live that was crazier than that one. I mean what a freakin’ win! I’ve see some close games at Candlestick park before, but to have game like that? In the playoffs? Un-freakin’-believable! I can’t remember the last time I was that exhilarated after watching any sporting event. Maybe the Warriors knocking off the Mavs in ‘07? But seeing it live is just something else! I’ve never seen Candlestick Park buzzing with that much electricity in any of the 8 seasons I’ve been working there. This was the first time I’ve attended a playoff game in any sport and it is definitely something I’ll look back on and cherish the fact that I can say “I was at that playoff game where Alex Smith brought us back TWICE against the Saints.” I said it before and I’ll say it again, “UN-FREAKIN’-BELIEVABLE!”
The 49ers/Saints playoff game is easily the MOST INCREDIBLE game I have ever seen in person!
Side note: I look fucking CRAZY in this picture. I’m just so hyped!
