The first thing I thought when I heard about the concept of this movie is the Simpsons episode “Homer the Vigilante,” where Homer forms a neighborhood watch to catch the Cat Burglar. And after seeing this teaser trailer that is exactly the same vibe I’m getting haha. Could this be the movie to bring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller back in the good graces of the people? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

This and In The Loop are probably my favorite comedies from the aughts. Robert Downey Jr. got an Academy Award nomination for a straight up comedy, when has that EVER happened?

Edit: Forgot about Anchorman! The second best PG-13 comedy after Dumb & Dumber.

Christian Bale looks EXACTLY the same as he does today, except tinier haha. Great movie!

Oh okay, Flaming Dragon… fuck face. First, take a big step back and literally FUCK YOUR OWN FACE! Now I don’t know what kind of pan-Pacific bullshit power play you’re trying to pull here, but Asia jack, is my territory. So whatever you’re thinking, you better think again. Otherwise I’m going to have to head down there and I will rain down an un-Godly firestorm upon you. You’re gonna have to call the fucking United Nations to get a fucking binding resolution to keep me from fucking destroying you. I am talking scorched Earth motherfucker! I will massacre you! I WILL FUCK YOU UP!
The Royal Tenembaums

So I finally got a little downtime and I decided to watch The Royal Tenembaums (thanks to Jason for letting me borrow it). I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen much of Wes Anderson’s work, the only other films I’ve seen of his are Rushmore and Fantastic Mr. Fox and I loved both of those movies too. The movie definitely feels like Wes Anderson with the quirky style and the always great musical choices. The characters felt unique without feeling too “indie”. Oftentimes the quirkiness of characters like these fall into being one dimensional and static with only a few characteristics to define them. I thought each character was very nuanced and had both likable and unlikable bits to them which made them feel more real. I did think that the resolution of the film was a bit too clean and brief to have the necessary emotional impact, but I still left the film feeling very satisfied with the trajectories of each character arc. I really enjoyed this movie and I would highly recommend it to anyone who was interested in seeing it.
