Currently listening to the 10 hour long /Filmcast marathon and I love how technology can enable us to hear Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper), David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models), Damon Lindeloff (Lost, Prometheus, Star Trek Into Darkness), Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air), and Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men, X2) give spontaneous interviews all within 4 hours of time. Still up are C. Robert Cargill (Sinister), Matt Singer (Indiewire), Jon Chu (Step Up 2 & 3 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Jeremy Zuckerman (composer for The Legend of Korra!), and to top it all off a live audio commentary of Splice with director Vincenzo Natali. This is practically my perfect day off hahaha.
[Update: They just added Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) to the guest list! Currently listening and geeking the FUCK out!]
I love it when film journalists/bloggers favorite or retweet my responses to them on Twitter. It makes me feel validated as a moviegoer for some reason lol. I still remember on the /Filmcast review of Exit Through the Gift Shop, Dave Chen liked my comment of “More like Exit Through the GRIFT Shop, M I RITE???” Or when Peter Sciretta put up my tweet review of Super 8 along with a bunch of other people’s tweet reviews after an advance screening. It’s just kind of a cool, geeky film nerd kind of feeling haha.
Still one of the most powerful endings I’ve seen and one of my favorite movies, such a surprise.
I was genuinely surprised at how much I liked this movie. One review of the film I read put it best:
“If Remember Me had featured Ryan Gosling instead of Robert Pattinson it would have been correctly hailed as great. But people got far too caught up in the ending and Pattinson’s celebrity to catch that he was really freaking good in this movie. Definitely worth a watch if you you’re a fan of relationship dramas.” - Laremy Legal of Film.com (and he’s been a guest on the /Filmcast from time to time as well!).
I tweeted /Film owner, Peter Sciretta, about Super 8 last night and my tweet got on /Film! I was scrolling down through the tweets and wondering if mine was going to be there and it was the LAST ONE! I got on my FAVORITE film blog, DREAM FULFILLED.
Rian Johnson is such an asshole hahahaha. I wish someone uploaded the part of this episode where Rian Johnson mocks Dave for admitting that he bakes banana nut bread in real life haha.
If you dig film, check out the /Filmcast. I really love this show, they have great insights and I love the fact that they’re highly conscious of not spoiling films for people.
Jordan: Yeah I mean straight ahead, why the hell don’t they just- you know, they never screened Crank 2 which was funny. As far as I know, there was even no give and take screenings for that at all, period. And I just think it’s, you know, ridiculous. I mean, we’re gonna watch it, we’re gonna review it; they should let us see it, you know?
Dave: Well, anyway, what did you think of [Gamer] Jordan?
Jordan: It was terrible. It’s awful.
[Dave, Devindra, and Adam laugh]
Dave: Oh man, these are some really obscure names people are bringing up, like Stuart Townsend?
Liz: Stuart Townsend doesn’t deserve to make it, let alone come back. He hasn’t even made it. When you get fired from Lord of the Rings, I think that’s the end for you.
Dave: That is rough Liz, especially because he was almost Aragorn. He was almost Aragorn.
Liz: And I thank God everyday- that’s proof there is a God.
*Devindra and Liz laugh*
Liz: I was doubting his existence earlier in the week *laughs*. You’ve made me discover my faith again Dave, thank you.
Dave: You’re welcome. They actually filmed scenes with Stuart Townsend, so I’m really…
Liz: Wouldn’t you like to see those?
Liz: I wish they would surface, because they don’t talk about that, that he was literally in the middle of filming Fellowship and they were all like “get the fuck out”
